Past - regular verbs
Verbs describe an action, what you do. For example, to walk, to cycle, to eat.
In Swedish, there are two inflected tenses: present and past. The other tenses are made by combining auxiliary verbs with infinite forms. Swedish verbs have five active forms.
The past tense is what someone did before:
He walked
She cycled
They ate
There are regular and irregular verbs. Regular verbs are always inflected in the same way, while irregular verbs do not follow any rules but have to be learned separately.
Regular verbs in the past tense end with -ade
Jag handlade mat = I bought food
Jag tvättade kläder = I washed clothes
Verbs are not inflected by the person. They are always inflected in the same way, regardless of the person.
