Romanian · Imperative
With pronouns: dă-mi, uită-te
Object and reflexive pronouns come after an affirmative imperative, joined by a hyphen: dă-mi (give me), spune-mi (tell me), ia-l (take him/it), sună-mă (call me), ajută-mă (help me). Reflexive verbs work the same way: uită-te (look), grăbește-te (hurry up), așază-te (sit down), du-te (go).
- The verb keeps its normal imperative form: a aduce → adu-mi, a face → fă-mi, a zice → zi-mi.
- For voi and polite address, reflexive te becomes vă: grăbiți-vă, uitați-vă, așezați-vă. Other pronouns stay the same: spuneți-mi, dați-mi.
- In the negative the pronoun moves in front of the verb: nu te grăbi (don't hurry), nu-mi spune (don't tell me).
