Polish · Pronouns and Possessives
My, your, our: possessives
Polish possessives agree with the noun they describe (the thing owned), not with the owner. mój (my), twój (your, one person), nasz (our) and wasz (your, several people) take the gender and number of that noun:
- masculine: mój / twój / nasz / wasz brat
- feminine: moja / twoja / nasza / wasza mama
- neuter and most plurals: moje / twoje / nasze / wasze dziecko, klucze, siostry
- plural of men or mixed groups of people: moi / twoi / nasi / wasi koledzy, rodzice
Watch the plural: women, animals and things take -e (moje siostry, nasze koty), men and mixed groups of people take -i (moi bracia).
jego (his), jej (her) and ich (their) never change: jego żona, jej bracia, ich dzieci.
