Ordinals & each: -inci, -er
Ordinal numbers add -(I)ncI with vowel harmony: birinci, ikinci, üçüncü, dördüncü (t softens to d), altıncı, onuncu. After a vowel only -ncI is added: iki → ikinci, yedi → yedinci. Use them for ranks, floors, rows and school years: Evimiz dördüncü katta. (Our flat is on the fourth floor.)
Dates use the possessive: Bugün ayın on beşi. (Today is the fifteenth.) Add -DA for 'on': ayın birinde (on the first).
Distributive numbers mean 'each' or 'at a time'. They add -Ar after a consonant and -şAr after a vowel: birer, dörder, beşer, onar, ikişer, altışar. Üç çocuğa ikişer kalem verdim. (I gave three children two pens each.) Doubled, they mean 'one by one', 'two by two': birer birer, ikişer ikişer.
