Imperative with Pronouns

Object and reflexive pronouns (me, te, se, nos, os, lo, la, le, los, las) are attached to the end of an affirmative command, but they go before the verb in a negative command.

  • ¡Siéntate! → ¡No te sientes! (Sit down! / Don't sit down!)
  • ¡Cómpralo! → ¡No lo compres! (Buy it! / Don't buy it!)
  • ¡Dímelo! → ¡No me lo digas! (Tell me! / Don't tell me!)

With two pronouns, the indirect one comes first (me lo, te la), and le/les becomes se before lo, la, los or las: envíaselas (send them to her).

Attaching pronouns often needs a written accent to keep the stress on the same syllable: levanta → levántate, siente → siéntese.

With vosotros, the final -d drops before os: sentad + os → sentaos.

Examples
