Object pronouns: îl, o, îi, le + pe
Romanian replaces a direct object with a short unstressed pronoun placed before the verb: mă, te, îl, o, ne, vă, îi, le (me, you, him/it, her/it, us, you pl., them m., them f.). Îl văd. (I see him.)
- A person object is marked with pe, and the pronoun is repeated: O aștept pe Ana. (I'm waiting for Ana.)
- A fronted object is doubled too: Pe prieteni îi aștept eu. (I'm the one waiting for the friends.)
- In the perfect the pronoun shortens and takes a hyphen: m-a, te-a, l-a, ne-a, v-a, i-a, le-a văzut (he saw me, you, him…). Only o follows the participle: Am văzut-o. (I saw her.)
- With a positive imperative it follows the verb: Ajută-l! (Help him!)
- Pain is expressed with the accusative: Pe Ana o doare gâtul. (Ana has a sore throat.)
