Romanian · Cases: Genitive, Dative, Vocative
Genitive-dative plural: copiilor
In the plural, the genitive-dative has one ending for all genders: take the definite plural and replace its ending with -lor: copiii → copiilor, fetele → fetelor, oamenii → oamenilor, orașele → orașelor, trenurile → trenurilor.
It shows possession (jucăriile copiilor, the children's toys) and the person after verbs such as a da, a spune, a trimite, a plăcea, usually doubled by le: Le-am dat bomboane elevilor.
With a determiner, the determiner takes the case and the noun keeps its basic plural: acestor copii, unor vecini, celor doi prieteni. Toți and toate become tuturor, and here the noun also takes -lor: tuturor colegilor. A possessive after the noun agrees: fraților mei, surorilor noastre.
