Used to
Use used to + base form for past habits and states that are no longer true: I used to play football every weekend. There used to be a bakery here.
- In questions and negatives, did already shows the past, so write use to without -d: Did you use to live here? She didn't use to like coffee.
- never used to is also common: He never used to like cold weather.
- For the present, use the present simple: I play tennis now.
Don't confuse it with be used to + noun / -ing, which means be familiar with something: I'm used to the noise. She is used to sleeping during the day. get used to means become familiar: I'm getting used to my new job.
