The most frequent Romanian verbs are irregular in the present, so learn their six forms by heart. Always look at the subject to choose the person.

Similar short verbs: a da (dau, dai, dă), a sta (stau, stai, stă), a bea (beau, bei, bea, bem). a mânca changes its stem: mănânc, mănânci, mănâncă, but mâncăm. Also a veni (vin, vii, vine), a ști (știu, știi, știe), a putea (pot, poți, poate).
