In the plural there are three indefinite articles (also called dividing articles). These are dei (male), degli (male) and delle female. This is used when talking about something in an indefinite number. So you *don't know the number or amount of what you are talking about.

The division articles are always formed by the preposition di with a specific article (di + specific article = division article).

This results in the following division articles:
di + i = dei
di + gli = degli
di + le = delle

You use the dividing article dei if your masculine noun begins with a consonant.

Does your masculine noun begin with a vowel (A, E, I, O, U), a mute h , a s + a consonant, with gn, pn, ps, x, y, z or i + a vowel then degli is used.

Delle is the only feminine indefinite article in the plural and is therefore always used with feminine nouns. So you always use delle when your feminine noun, with a consonant, a vowel (A, E, I, O, U), a mute h, a s + a consonant , with gn, pn, ps, x, y, z or i + starts with a vowel.
