Zeit: at, on, in

Im Englischen gibt es drei Präpositionen für Zeitpunkte, vom kleinsten bis zum größten:

• at für Uhrzeiten und einige feste Ausdrücke: at eight o'clock, at half past six, at noon, at midnight, at night, at lunchtime, at sunrise, at the moment.
• on für Tage und Daten: on Monday, on Sundays, on the 5th of May, on New Year's Day. Ein Tag plus Tageszeit steht ebenfalls mit on: on Friday evening, on Sunday mornings.
• in für längere Zeiträume: Monate (in July), Jahre (in 2004), Jahreszeiten (in winter), Jahrzehnte und Jahrhunderte (in the 1980s, in the twentieth century) sowie Tageszeiten (in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening).

Achte auf die Ausnahmen: at night, aber in the morning und in the middle of the night; in the morning, aber on Monday morning.
