Artikel & Plural

Artikel verhalten sich im Wesentlichen wie Adjektive in dem Sinne, dass sie Substantive modifizieren.
Im Englischen sind die Artikel "the" und "a/an".

Die Art und Weise, wie Artikel funktionieren, hängt davon ab, ob sie vor zählenden oder nicht zählenden Substantiven stehen. Zählbare Substantive haben in der Regel Singular- und Pluralformen (z. B. "lake/lakes" und "concept/concepts"), während nicht zählbare Substantive keine Pluralformen haben (z. B. "information" oder "milk").

"The" kann sowohl vor Singular- als auch vor Pluralformen von Substantiven verwendet werden, während "a/an" nur in Singular verwendet wird, die nicht zählbar sind. Daher gilt im Allgemeinen, dass "a/an" nur vor zählbaren Substantiven in Singular verwendet wird.
