Do und Does: Fragen und Verneinungen

Im Present Simple brauchen Fragen und Verneinungen das Hilfsverb do.

  • do / don't mit I, you, we, they und Substantiven im Plural: Do you live here? (Wohnst du hier?) I don't eat meat. (Ich esse kein Fleisch.)
  • does / doesn't mit he, she, it und Substantiven im Singular: Does she speak French? (Spricht sie Französisch?) He doesn't drive. (Er fährt nicht.)

Die vollen Formen sind do not und does not; im Sprechen sagt man meist don't und doesn't.

Nach do oder does bleibt das Hauptverb in der Grundform, ohne -s: Does she speak? (nicht speaks), He doesn't eat meat (nicht eats).

Ein Fragewort steht an erster Stelle: Where does your sister work? How often do you go to the gym? (Wo arbeitet deine Schwester? Wie oft gehst du ins Fitnessstudio?)

In Fragen und Verneinungen benutzt das Verb be kein do: Are you ready? She isn't here.

Beispiele

  • Do you like tea?
  • Where does he live?
  • I don't have a car.
  • She doesn't speak Spanish.
  • What time does the shop close?
