Englisch (UK) · Present
Das Verb To Be: am, is, are
Das Verb be hat im Präsens drei Formen:
- I am (I'm)
- he / she / it is (he's, she's, it's), auch nach Substantiven im Singular: My sister is a nurse. (Meine Schwester ist Krankenschwester.)
- you / we / they are (you're, we're, they're), auch nach Substantiven im Plural: My parents are on holiday. (Meine Eltern sind im Urlaub.)
Verneinung mit not: I am not (I'm not), is not (isn't), are not (aren't). Eine Kurzform amn't gibt es nicht.
Fragen stellen das Verb vor das Subjekt: Am I late? (Bin ich zu spät?) Is she your sister? (Ist sie deine Schwester?) Are you ready? (Bist du bereit?) Ein Fragewort steht an erster Stelle: What is your name? (Wie heißt du?)
Kurzantworten wiederholen das Verb: Yes, I am. No, it isn't. (Ja. Nein.)
