As ... as, than und the

Diese kleinen Wörter halten Vergleiche zusammen:

  • as ... as sagt, dass zwei Dinge gleich sind: He is as tall as his father. Mit not bedeutet es "weniger": The exam wasn't as difficult as I expected.
  • than steht nach einem Komparativ: older than me, better than the book. Verwende niemals as oder then nach einem Komparativ.
  • the steht vor einem Superlativ: the best café, the largest country.
  • more steht vor längeren Adjektiven, Adverbien und Substantiven: more crowded, more slowly, more money. Less ist das Gegenteil und funktioniert auch mit kurzen Adjektiven: less tired, less sugar.
  • the most markiert die Spitze einer Gruppe: the most expensive hotel.

Lies den ganzen Satz, um zwischen more und less zu wählen: der zweite Satz verrät oft, was passt.
