- good / well → better → best
- bad / badly → worse → worst
- far → farther oder further → farthest oder furthest
- little → less → least
- much / many → more → most
Dieselben Formen gelten für Adjektive und Adverbien: Her English is better und She sings better verwenden beide better. Less wird mit unzählbaren Substantiven verwendet (less time), während more mit beiden Arten funktioniert (more time, more books).
Beispiele
- Her English is better than mine.
- I slept badly, but my husband slept worse.
- The hotel is farther from the beach than I expected.
- We have less time than we thought.
- Which is the best restaurant near here?
