Imperative

The imperative is used for making requests and giving commands.

The imperative mood is formed for:
The 2nd person singular and plural (ty, vy)
and for the 1st person plural (my).

Form: imperative stem + suffix!
The suffix depends on the verb class.

imperative stem:
Drop the "-í", "ají" or "-ou" ending from the third-person plural of a verb

dělat (to do) - oni dělají > děl-
číst (to read) - oni čtou> čt-
počítat (to count) - oni počítají > počít-
mluvit (to talk) - oni mluví > mluv-

TY imperative (you, singular)
form: null ending or -i/-ej/-uj ending,

the imperative stem ends in two or more consonants: add -i
říct (to tell) > oni řeknou > řekn- > Řekni!
jít (to go) > oni jdou > jd- > Jdi!

imperative stem ends in a single consonant: null ending, or suffix -ej, or -uj
mluv (to talk) > oni mluví > mluv- > Mluv! (speak!)
dávej (to give) > oni dávají > dáv- > Dej! (give!)

zpívat (to sing) > oni zpívají > zpív- > Zpívej! (sing!)
tancovat (to dance) > oni tancují > tanc- > Tancuj! (dance!)

form: -me/-ejme/-ujme/-eme/-ěme ending
Zpívejme!
Tancujme!
Mluvme!

VY imperative (you, plural)
form: -te/-ejte/-ujte/-ěte/-ete ending

imperative stem ends in two or more consonants: add -ěte, or -ete
říkat (to tell) > oni řeknou > řekn- > řekněte
jít (to go) > oni jdou > jd- > jděte

imperative stem ends in a single consonant: add -te/-ejte/-ujte
mluv (to talk) > oni mluví > mluv- > Mluvte!
dávej (to give) > oni dávají > dáv- > Dejte!

zpívat (to sing) > oni zpívají > zpív- > Zpívejte!
tancovat (to dance) > oni tancují > tanc- > Tancujte!

The easier way to form the imperative:
imperative of "jít" (to go) + infinitive of verb describing the action
Pojď zpívat! (Let's go singing, you)
Pojďme zpívat! (Let's go singing, we)
Pojďte zpívat!" (Let's go singing, you plural)

Reflexive verbs
Reflexive verbs have "se" or "si" added to the main verb.

"se", or "si" always stays behind the main verb:
zazpívat si - to sing for oneself
Zazpívej si! - Sing! (you, singular)
Zazpívejme si! - Sing! (us)
Zazpívejte si! - Sing! (you, plural)

"se", or "si" moves before the the infinitive:
Pojď si zazpívat! - Let's sing! (you, singular)
Pojďme si zazpívat! - Let's sing! (us)
Pojďte si zazpívat! - Let's sing! (you, plural)
