Pretérito Pluscuamperfecto
The Spanish pretérito pluscuamperfecto is one of the Spanish past tenses. It is used for actions that have already happened from a point in time in the past. Its conjugation is very simple. We conjugate the verbs with the past tense Pretérito Imperfecto of the auxiliary verb haber and the participio perfecto (hablado, aprendido, vivido).
We form the participio perfecto by removing the infinitive ending and adding the ending -ado to verbs ending in -ar and the ending -ido* to verbs ending in -er/-ir *. There are, however, a few exceptions.
