Englisch (UK) · Gerundium oder Infinitiv
Zweck: to, for, so that
Um zu sagen, warum jemand etwas tut, verwendet das Englische drei Muster:
- to + Verb: I went to the supermarket to buy milk. Formeller: in order to.
- for + Substantiv: I went to the supermarket for some milk. Let's go out for a walk.
- so that + Subjekt + Verb, oft mit can, could, won't, wouldn't: She's saving money so that she can travel. In der Alltagssprache ist auch so allein üblich.
Verwenden Sie nicht for to oder for + -ing, um den Grund für eine Handlung anzugeben: I came here to learn English (nicht for to learn oder for learning).
Schnellcheck: folgt ein Verb → to; folgt ein Substantiv → for; folgen Subjekt und Verb → so that.
Beispiele
- She went to the library to study.
- We went out for a coffee.
- I set an alarm so that I wouldn't oversleep.
