Zeitsätze: when, as soon as, until

Wenn ein Satz von der Zukunft handelt, steht im Zeitsatz nach when, as soon as, until, before oder after das Present Simple. Die Zukunftsform (will, going to) steht nur im Hauptsatz.

  • I'll call you when I arrive. (nicht when I will arrive)
  • We'll start as soon as everyone is here.
  • Wait here until I come back.
  • Before you leave, turn off the lights.

Wenn du betonen willst, dass eine Handlung abgeschlossen ist, bevor die andere beginnt, kannst du auch das Present Perfect verwenden: I'll lend you the book after I have read it.

Diese Regel gilt nur für Zeitsätze. In einer Frage wie When will you arrive? verwendet man weiterhin will. Viele Sprachen nutzen in Zeitsätzen eine Zukunftsform, also achte auf diesen häufigen Fehler.

Beispiele

  • I'll phone you when I get to the station.
  • As soon as the film starts, turn off your phone.
  • We'll wait until the rain stops.
  • Before you go out, close the windows.
  • She'll feel better after she has had a rest.
