Adjektiv + Präposition

Vielen Adjektiven folgt eine feste Präposition vor einem Substantiv, Pronomen oder einer -ing-Form. Es gibt keine Regel, welche das ist, also lerne sie paarweise:

  • in: interested in, involved in, rich in
  • at: good at, bad at, terrible at (Fähigkeiten)
  • of: afraid of, scared of, tired of, proud of, jealous of, full of, aware of
  • to: married to, engaged to, kind to, polite to, similar to, allergic to
  • for: famous for, responsible for, ready for, grateful for, good for / bad for (Gesundheit)
  • about: worried about, excited about, nervous about, crazy about, curious about

Beachte den Kontrast: She's good at tennis (eine Fähigkeit), aber Exercise is good for you (gesund). Nach der Präposition steht das Verb im -ing: I'm tired of waiting. Sage married to someone, niemals married with.

Beispiele

  • She's interested in photography.
  • My dad is very good at cooking.
  • Are you afraid of flying?
  • We're really excited about the trip.
  • Sugar is bad for your teeth.
