Englisch (UK) · Relativ- und Reflexivpronomen

Relativpronomen: who, which, whose, where

Ein Relativsatz legt genau fest, welche Person, Sache oder welchen Ort man meint:

  • who für Personen: the woman who lives next door
  • which für Dinge: the book which I read
  • whose statt his/her/their: the man whose car was stolen
  • where für Orte: the hotel where we stayed

Statt who/which kann man auch that verwenden: the book that I read.

Häufige Fehler: nie what verwenden; Subjekt nicht wiederholen (nicht who she lives); which verwenden, wenn der Ort Objekt ist: the house which we bought, aber the house where we live.

Beispiele

  • The man who lives upstairs is a pilot.
  • I like songs which make me happy.
  • She has a friend whose father is a chef.
  • This is the beach where we swim every summer.
  • The bag that I bought is too small.
