Possessivpronomen: mine, yours ...

Ein Possessivpronomen steht für ein besitzanzeigendes Wort plus sein Nomen, damit du das Nomen nicht wiederholst: This is my bag. = This bag is mine.

  • my → mine, your → yours, his → his, her → hers, our → ours, their → theirs
  • Auf ein Possessivpronomen folgt nie ein Nomen: It's hers (nicht "hers bag").
  • Es gibt keinen Apostroph: yours, ours, theirs.
  • Es beantwortet oft Whose ...?: Whose keys are these? – They're mine.
  • Es kann auch das Subjekt sein: Your car is red. Ours is blue.

Der Besitzer bestimmt die Form, nicht die Sache: Tom's bag → it's his; Anna's pens → they're hers.

Beispiele

  • Is this pen yours? – Yes, it's mine.
  • That car isn't ours. Ours is red.
  • Whose phone is this? – It's hers.
  • Our house is small, but theirs is big.
